A beautiful new ‘no clutter’ kitchen

After 19 years David and Ange felt that their home needed a kitchen makeover. Initially, they thought about some new units and doors, but they also wanted a smart new uncluttered effect. This is their story.
At the beginning
“Our previous kitchen was 19 years old and looking tired. We started the kitchen makeover process a year before we met Slavi and had been seriously thinking about kitchens for about three to five months.
“At the start we thought we would just change some doors and units but after six months we weren’t really any further forward. We wanted another quotation from a personal, local service to compare with the large national installers we had already spoken with. We were searching ‘Kitchens Milton Keynes' and found Slavi by chance.
“We were impressed by Slavi’s attention to detail. He understood our specific requirements and you could tell he was committed to meeting them. He is very interested in his clients.
“Seven weeks later we had a new kitchen. It was a great job.”
The kitchen makeover process
“Kitchens are becoming more complicated and there are lot more things to think about compared to when we built our last kitchen.
“The most difficult decision is price because you are spending a large sum. Knowing how long someone has been in business is important, because you want to speak with previous customers to give you confidence.
“A new kitchen is at least a 15-year commitment, so we spent quite a long time, choosing LED lights, a quartz worktop, NEFF appliances, a special boiling hot water tap from insinkerator, so we don’t need a water filter jug, and auto-open units.
“We already had a basic design and one of our goals was to declutter the worksurfaces as much as we could. Slavi helped to define the details and suggested improvements that we could include.
“You can get a bit exhausted by the process but Slavi made it enjoyable. We were involved in the whole process, but it was never a burden. He responded to our requirements, took us through whole process and explained everything to us.
“You feel that you are getting the best advice and that gives you confidence to make decisions.
“Naturally, you start off trying to keep the costs down, but it’s worth making the investment to have a fantastic kitchen rather than just a good one.”
“Slavi is good at keeping the process moving and he kept us fully informed – that made it much easier. All of his recommendations and specifications were fantastic.
“The delivery arrived when it was due and Slavi arrived when he said he would. The installation took 10 days and the old kitchen was taken away, so we didn’t need to worry about that.
“The work surface had to be precisely measured and cut by specialists, so this could only be done once the units were in place.
“Some remedial electrical work was needed which Slavi resolved as we went along; it was never a problem.
“The final decision was to choose a splashback to complement the white quartz worksurfaces and the black appliances and units.”
